Description

Part-Time Human Resources Generalist

Guardian Light Family Services (GLFS) is seeking a part-time Human Resources Generalist to support the daily organization, accuracy, and follow-through of our HR operations.

GLFS provides child and family services throughout Nebraska, including services completed through state and community-based contracts. Because our HR processes are closely connected to contractual requirements, employee credentials, compliance, documentation, and service delivery expectations, previous experience in human services, child welfare, family services, behavioral health, or another contract-driven environment is strongly preferred.

This position averages approximately 20 hours per week, with hours generally ranging from 15–28 hours depending on company needs. Some consistent daytime availability is required for communication with applicants, employees, supervisors, previous employers, state partners, and other professional contacts. Additional work hours may be completed during evenings or weekends as appropriate.

Following training, much of the position may be completed from home. Because the role involves independent, detail-focused work, the HR Generalist must be comfortable working in a self-directed environment while remaining responsive and connected to the HR Director and broader team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Tracking employee and contractual requirements, including trainings, credentials, vehicle documentation, and other required items
  • Completing employee setup, status changes, State of Nebraska reporting, and HR system updates
  • Reviewing and auditing HR systems and personnel files for accuracy and completeness
  • Assisting with pre-employment and background-check verification
  • Contacting previous employers and other professional sources to complete required employment verification
  • Identifying missing documentation, expired requirements, or incomplete information and completing necessary follow-up
  • Maintaining accurate and timely personnel records
  • Assisting with employee evaluations, monthly reporting, compliance tracking, and audit preparation
  • Responding professionally to employee and supervisor questions
  • Supporting HR processes connected to contractual, licensing, credentialing, and organizational requirements
  • Completing additional HR administrative duties as assigned
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • High attention to detail and a strong understanding of tracking, monitoring, and follow-up processes
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and requirements at the same time
  • Ability to accurately maintain spreadsheets, trackers, personnel files, and HR systems
  • Strong follow-through and the ability to recognize when information is missing, incomplete, expired, or inconsistent
  • Ability to independently determine and complete appropriate next steps
  • Comfort making professional phone calls, including contacting previous employers for verification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee information
  • Ability to work independently in a remote or isolated work environment without continuous supervision
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and processes
  • Reliable daytime availability for portions of the workweek
  • Ability to remain responsive through phone, email, text, and chat
  • Experience in human services, child welfare, child and family services, behavioral health, foster care, or a similar service environment strongly preferred
  • Experience working within state-funded, DHHS/DHHS-contracted, Medicaid, grant-funded, or other compliance-driven programs is preferred
  • Familiarity with employee credentialing, contractual requirements, audits, background checks, or regulated personnel files is a plus

Location: Residence within Lincoln County, Nebraska is highly preferred. Residence in Nebraska is required.
