Mid Atlantic Contracting is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our General Contracting team in Woodbine, Maryland. This is a hands on project management role for someone who wants to develop a strong understanding under mentorship from our team of how commercial construction projects are managed from start through closeout. You’ll work directly with our Senior Project Manager and project team while coordinating with superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, design professionals, and clients. We’re looking for someone who is organized, accountable, comfortable asking questions, and willing to take ownership of their work. You don't need to know everything on day one, but you do need to be eager to learn, follow through, and become increasingly independent as your experience develops
What you'll do at MAC:
- Assist with commercial and government construction projects from start through closeout
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, estimates, and project requirements
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, meeting minutes, permits, and other project documentation
- Assist with subcontractor buyout and vendor procurement, including scopes, subcontracts, purchase orders, insurance, and compliance documentation
- Support project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, invoices, billing, and change orders
- Help maintain project schedules, procurement logs, milestone dates, and long-lead item tracking
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, superintendents, and field teams
- Participate in owner, architect, subcontractor, and internal project meetings
- Visit jobsites to understand field conditions, progress, sequencing, and project challenges
- Assist with punch lists, as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals, inspections, and project closeout
- Support estimating and preconstruction activities, including takeoffs, bid solicitation, scope review, and bid leveling
- Take increasing ownership of project responsibilities as your knowledge and experience develop
What We’re Looking For:
- Approximately 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, project coordination, project engineering, or assistant project management preferred
- Construction related education is a plus, but it is not a requirement. Relevant hands on experience, aptitude, and a willingness to learn are equally important to us
- General understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, schedules, change orders, procurement, and project documentation
- Strong organization and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with both office and field teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
- Experience with Vista, ProContractor, Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is a plus
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
What Success Looks Like In This Role:
You'll become someone the project team can rely on to keep information organized, follow open items through completion, communicate issues early, and help keep projects moving. As you develop, you'll take on greater responsibility for various project components and have opportunities to build toward managing projects more independently. If you're looking for an opportunity to learn the business, get exposure to both the office and field sides of construction, MAC is the place for you! Come grow with us!
