Junior Systems Administrator
Description

Foresight Technologies is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator to support the people and technology behind our manufacturing and business operations. This position combines hands-on employee support with routine administration of Windows systems, Microsoft 365, user access, and IT equipment.

You will take ownership of everyday support issues, help keep systems reliable and secure, and contribute to improvements in onboarding, documentation, and routine administration. You will work with senior IT resources and technology vendors on escalations, infrastructure maintenance, and improvement projects.

This position is well suited to an IT support professional who enjoys troubleshooting, takes responsibility for following issues through to resolution, and wants to develop broader systems administration skills.

Requirements

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing support requests from intake through resolution. Troubleshoot issues, prioritize business impact, communicate with employees, document your work, and escalate with useful details when additional expertise is needed.
  • Deploying and supporting employee equipment. Configure and maintain Windows computers, laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, label printers, scanners, and approved software. Assist with workstation moves, equipment replacement, and inventory accuracy.
  • Supporting Microsoft 365 and productivity tools. Resolve issues involving Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Office applications, sign-in, file access, and collaboration.
  • Completing approved account and access changes. Support onboarding, employee role changes, and offboarding, including Active Directory accounts, group memberships, shared mailboxes, licensing, MFA enrollment, and application access.
  • Troubleshooting business and manufacturing applications. Provide initial support for ERP, engineering/CAD, document-management, shipping, and printing systems. Gather error details, reproduce issues safely, and coordinate with senior IT staff or application vendors.
  • Assisting with systems and network administration. Follow established procedures for Windows Server, file and print services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, VPN connectivity, and virtual machines. Perform assigned maintenance and approved changes with appropriate testing.
  • Reviewing operational and security checks. Monitor assigned backup, patching, endpoint-protection, and system-health reports. Investigate routine exceptions and promptly escalate failures or suspicious activity. Assist with approved restores and recovery testing under senior guidance.
  • Maintaining documentation and improving repeatable work. Keep support records, asset information, setup checklists, and troubleshooting procedures current. Help improve routine tasks through approved scripts and automation.
  • Working safely in a production environment. Protect confidential information, use approved administrative access, follow change procedures, and coordinate work to minimize disruption to employees and manufacturing operations.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Two or more years of IT support, desktop support, helpdesk, or related experience, or comparable practical experience demonstrating the required skills.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting Windows computers, Microsoft Office applications, printers, and common hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration, including user accounts, password resets, group membership, permissions, and MFA.
  • An understanding of basic networking concepts, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and VPN connectivity.
  • A methodical troubleshooting approach: gather facts, test a hypothesis, verify the result, and document what changed.
  • Clear communication, dependable follow-through, and the ability to support employees with different levels of technical knowledge.
  • Sound judgment about when to proceed independently, follow a documented procedure, or escalate a problem.

Additional experience we value:

  • Windows Server, Group Policy, Hyper-V, Veeam, or comparable server, virtualization, and backup tools.
  • PowerShell, remote monitoring and management tools, software deployment, or basic scripting.
  • Manufacturing or engineering environments and applications such as JobBOSS, Mastercam, PDM, DocuWare, or UPS WorldShip. Experience with comparable business applications is welcome.
  • Endpoint security, MFA tools, asset management, network printers, or label-printing systems.
  • Relevant technical coursework, apprenticeships, or certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications.

A degree is not required for candidates who can demonstrate the necessary skills. Experience with every product listed is not expected. We value practical troubleshooting, careful work, clear communication, and a willingness to learn.
