Hialeah • Quality Control
Job Type
Full-time
Description

The 2nd Shift Quality Control Supervisor reports to the Quality Control Manager and leads second-shift QC activities to ensure landing gear components are inspected, documented, and processed in accordance with applicable technical data, customer requirements, company procedures, and all applicable regulatory requirements. The supervisor plans inspection coverage, develops personnel, resolves quality concerns, and coordinates with Production and other departments to support safe, efficient workflow and on-time delivery.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring sound technical judgment, clear communication, and consistent accountability. The supervisor supports production execution while maintaining independent inspection decisions and ensuring schedule demands do not compromise airworthiness or compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Plan, assign, oversee, and perform incoming, preliminary, hidden-damage, in-process, and final inspections, as applicable and within individual qualifications and company authorization.

· Ensure work complies with the Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, applicable work instructions, current technical data, and the repair station’s ratings, limitations, and operations specifications.

· Perform visual and dimensional inspections; review component condition, measurements, and completed work to verify conformity with applicable acceptance criteria.

· Verify required repair processes and inspections are completed and documented. Coordinate repair requirements and technical questions with Engineering and authorized Quality personnel; obtain disposition when conditions exceed published limits or available data.

· Identify, document, and control nonconforming or suspect articles. Place affected work on hold when quality, safety, documentation, or compliance concerns exist; escalate promptly and verify resolution through established procedures.

· Ensure measuring equipment, inspection aids, and special tooling are suitable for the task, serviceable, and within calibration when required. Remove defective or overdue equipment from use and report potential impact on prior inspections.

· Promote proper part identification, traceability, segregation, handling, storage, and foreign object damage prevention throughout the shift.

· Review travelers, work packages, inspection results, process records, and supporting certifications for completeness, accuracy, traceability, and required signatures or stamps. Ensure entries are made by appropriately qualified and authorized personnel.

· Coordinate correction of documentation discrepancies and preparation of customer return-to-service records packages. Verify required records and inspections are complete before presentation for final release.

· Perform inspection acceptance and approve articles for return to service only when specifically qualified, certificated, and authorized under company procedures. This position does not, by itself, confer return-to-service authority.

· Lead by example in quality, safety, professionalism, and accountability. Communicate expectations clearly, recognize strong performance, and address concerns promptly and consistently.

· Assign work according to personnel qualifications, training, authorization, and workload. Ensure employees unfamiliar with assigned methods, tools, equipment, or procedures receive appropriate supervision.

· Coach and develop QC personnel, identify skill gaps, and coordinate initial, recurrent, and on-the-job training. Ensure training and proficiency evaluations are documented through the company training program.

· Provide performance feedback, recommend staffing and cross-training needs, and address attendance, conduct, and performance issues in coordination with management and Human Resources.

· Conduct shift-start planning and documented handoffs with first-shift supervision. Communicate priorities, work status, open discrepancies, inspection holds, resource needs, and commitments requiring follow-up.

· Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and support departments to resolve bottlenecks and maintain inspection coverage. Provide operational oversight of additional departments only as assigned by management.

· Plan staffing and schedules; review and approve overtime within delegated authority and established budgets. Escalate additional coverage needs and consider workload and fatigue when assigning work.

· Monitor inspection backlog, turnaround time, rework, documentation accuracy, and overtime. Report results and unresolved risks to the QC Manager; implement practical improvements with appropriate approval.

· Support audits, investigations, and corrective actions; provide objective evidence and follow through on assigned actions. Ensure procedural changes are reviewed and approved before implementation.

· Enforce applicable safety requirements and company policies, maintain orderly work areas, and promptly report unsafe conditions. Perform other related duties consistent with qualifications and company authorization.
