Are you thinking about joining our team? We look for self-motivated and inventive individuals who are dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our customers and partners.

The Risk & Reinsurance Associate will report to the Director of Exposure Management and support the analysis, monitoring, and management of Vault’s property catastrophe and reinsurance exposures. This role is ideal for an analytically minded insurance professional who enjoys working with data, solving business problems, and translating complex information into practical insights.

The associate will work with exposure, policy, geographic, and catastrophe-related data to support portfolio monitoring, underwriting, reinsurance, event response, and strategic initiatives. The position offers meaningful growth potential, including the opportunity to develop into catastrophe (CAT) modeling-related functions and analyses in the future.

With offices in Palm Beach Gardens and Tampa, Florida; Chicago, Illinois; and New York, New York, this role is ideally hybrid, with a preference for three days per week in any of our office locations. We will also consider qualified candidates outside of these locations for a fully remote arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, analyze, reconcile, and validate exposure and policy data used for portfolio management, reinsurance, and catastrophe risk analysis.

Monitor changes in in-force exposure, total insured value (TIV), geographic concentrations, and other key portfolio metrics.

Develop and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports, analyses, dashboards, and data extracts for Exposure Management and business stakeholders.

Use Excel and SQL to query, organize, clean, validate, and analyze large datasets, with a strong focus on accuracy and data quality.

Use ESRI/ArcGIS tools to analyze and visualize geographic exposure, concentrations, and risk patterns.

Support exposure-management tools and workflows used by Underwriting to evaluate aggregation and risk concentration.

Assist with reinsurance-related analyses and the preparation and validation of data used in reinsurance submissions and reporting.

Support pre- and post-catastrophe event analyses, including identification and assessment of potentially impacted exposures.

Investigate data anomalies, identify root causes, and partner with internal teams to improve data quality and processes.

Look beyond established processes to identify opportunities for automation, greater efficiency, stronger controls, and improved analytical insight.

Partner cross-functionally with Underwriting, Product, Actuarial, Reinsurance, Data/Technology, and other teams as needed.

As experience develops, support CAT modeling activities, scenario analyses, portfolio optimization, model output review, and other catastrophe-risk analyses.

Requirements

1–3 years of experience in the insurance and/or reinsurance industry.

Strong analytical and data acumen, with the ability to identify patterns, investigate inconsistencies, and translate data into actionable insights.

High attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy and quality.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and SQL.

Working knowledge of ESRI/ArcGIS or comparable geospatial tools.

Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to think outside the box when approaching business and analytical challenges.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain analytical findings to business partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with property exposure, underwriting, catastrophe risk, reinsurance, portfolio management, or related insurance data.

Familiarity with concepts such as TIV, geographic aggregation, catastrophe perils, exposure concentrations, and reinsurance.

Experience building repeatable analytical processes, dashboards, reporting tools, or data-quality controls.

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, business, insurance, risk management, geography/GIS, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will be curious, precise, proactive, and comfortable digging into data to understand not only what is happening, but why. They will develop a strong understanding of Vault’s exposure portfolio and become a trusted analytical partner while continuously looking for smarter, more efficient ways to solve problems.
