Every call we answer starts in your shop.
When someone in Marshall County needs help, our ambulances have to start, run, and get there. No excuses. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Lead Fleet Technician who loves the work and wants a say in how the shop runs. You’ll be the go-to person for tough diagnostics, the one other mechanics turn to for answers, and the reason our trucks are ready when the next call comes in.
This isn’t a desk job with a fancy title. You’ll be under the hood most of the day, doing real mechanical work, while also setting priorities and helping the team get better at what they do.
What Your Day Looks Like
- Diagnosing and fixing whatever comes through the door on ambulances and support vehicles: engines, brakes, transmissions, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and more
- Working on the specialty gear that makes an ambulance an ambulance, including oxygen and medical air systems, radios, GPS, cameras, and mounts
- Setting the shop’s priorities, assigning work, and showing other mechanics the right way to get it done
- Getting broken-down vehicles back on the road fast, and safely
- Working with dealers, specialty shops, and vendors when a job needs to go out
- Keeping records, parts, and equipment organized so nothing slips through the cracks
- Running a clean, safe shop and setting the standard for everyone else
What You Bring
- 2+ years of experience as a mechanic, including gas and diesel engines, suspension, steering, and brakes
- EVT or ASE certification, or the drive to earn one within your first year
- Your own set of basic automotive tools
- A clean driving record
- The confidence to work on your own, juggle several jobs at once, and make good calls without someone looking over your shoulder
- Basic computer skills for maintenance records
Good to Know
- The work is physical. You’ll lift up to 250 lbs. with a partner, and you’ll be walking, crawling, and kneeling throughout the day
- You’ll need to pass a post-offer drug screen, and background check
- You’ll report to the Fleet Manager
Why Vital?
Because the work matters. Every repair you make puts a crew back on the street to help someone on what might be the worst day of their life. You’ll have real ownership over how the shop runs, plenty of variety, and a team that respects a job done right.
If you’re early in your career and ready to step up, or you’ve been turning wrenches for a while and want a role where your work really counts, we want to hear from you.
