Job Opportunity

ERA, a leader in the Twin Cities structural engineering profession, seeks a structural engineer-in-training (EIT) to assist Licensed Professional Engineers on various building projects. As an EIT you will use your engineering background to create structural designs and construction documents within a team setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis of buildings and other structures
  • Create analysis models for structural elements and systems
  • Design of structural systems using; concrete, steel and other materials following appropriate building codes
  • Working with construction partners to review shop drawings and respond to field questions
  • Instruct draft/modeler technician on design drawings, data entry and report preparation
  • Assist in the completion of site inspections and assessment reports
  • Informs Project Managers of workload, changes to project scope and any additional services



  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, at ABET accredited University, Master’s degree preferred
  • Passed the FE exam and have, or the ability to obtain, a Minnesota EIT Certificate within 1 year
  • Excellent oral, written communication/presentation skills
  • 0-3 years’ experience, prior structural engineering a plus
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Organized with the ability to work cross functionally
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, work, outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, while working with a team to deliver high quality of work
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as RAM, RISA3-D, and SAP2000.
