The Interpreting Services Department at The Learning Center for the Deaf provides American Sign
Language interpreting in a variety of settings, including educational, medical and therapeutic
environments. Our Deaf interpreters have extensive training in utilizing their native knowledge of
ASL for assessment and specialized situations. These assignments require nuanced translations
that contain cultural, visual, tactile and linguistic elements. We also provide information regarding
the Deaf Community, how to work with interpreters, and how to make communication more
accessible. Our team of schedulers coordinate, schedule, and support interpreters in an effort to
maintain the smooth operation of the entire department.
