Summary of Position Responsibilities:
KAEKO is seeking a Mechanical/Process Project Engineer to fulfill an Owner Representative Role for a confidential client. The Mechanical/Process Project Engineer will be consulted for any major construction project related to Mechanical (HVAC, Exhaust, Chilled Water, Heating Water, Fire Protection, Cleanroom MUA, RAH, etc.) and Process Mechanical (Process Cooling Water, Oil Free Air, Process Cooling Water, Process Vacuum systems etc.). Early in the project, they will assess the feasibility of new projects. They will later develop a more detailed scope through field walks and collaboration with facilities operations partners and project engineers from other disciplines. During detailed design and construction the Project Engineers serve as the Owner's representative to provide technical guidance and issue resolution. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage performance of the Design Builder's Architectural and Engineering / Owners Design Consultant vendor for Mechanical and Process Mechanical deliverables.
- Lead inter-discipline coordination efforts, and collaborate closely with other disciplines to ensure delivery of a complete, approved, and coordinated scope across a project.
- Ensure that work is being performed code compliant and to the confidential client's policies and expectations.
- Delivering construction projects using multiple project delivery and execution strategies at a competitive advantage.
- Develops discipline scope and engineering solutions which include schedule, budget, and safety requirements for assigned construction projects.
- Interfaces and coordinates with Design, Construction, and internal organizations to enable facility design efforts for area of expertise.
- Provide input on design reviews, constructability, contractor performance, and coordination with construction resources to manage discipline schedule and budget.
- Ensures accuracy of estimating tied to the scope of work and linkage to project schedules.
- The ideal candidate must be able to develop and implement innovative engineering and design methodologies to support the very aggressive design and construction schedules.
- Interfaces and coordinates with Design, Construction, and Manufactures organizations to ensure facility design is coordinated and to the Manufacturers standards.
- Ability to understand the scope of work and provide complete detailed construction documents.
- Evaluate chemical equipment and processes to identify ways to optimize performance or to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Expertise to perform Mechanical engineering analysis for multiple scenarios that can include high level schedule and/or budget development to help customers and stakeholders make critical business decisions based on time and cost constraints.
- Specifications writing utilizing CSI Masterspec.
Minimum Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience in the following:
- Design and construction of Mechanical and Process Mechanical systems.
- Mechanical systems such as HVAC or Cleanroom Make Up and Recirculation Air or Heating and Chilled water systems or Fire Protection or Process Exhausts or Process Mechanical Systems such as Process Cooling Water or Oil Free Air or Process Cooling Water or Process Vacuum.
- Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) or aspiration to achieve that registration
- Good understanding of the construction process.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Familiar with construction documents.
- High attention to detail.
Preferred Requirements:
- Construction, startup, and turnover of facilities process systems.
- P/ID's, Pipeflo, and BIM.
- ANSI, SMACNA, and IBC.
- Control methods for process systems.
- Managing project change control.
- Managing the engineering and design of large complex technical facilities and equipment installation construction projects in high tech industries, preferably semiconductor.
- Mechanical and Mechanical process engineering, to provide tactical direction to a large engineering team, both direct and matrix report.
- Technical writing skills (e.g. specifications).
- Value for safety and a safe project environment.
- Skills to interface with a multi-user customer base.
- Expertise to manage the workload of multiple projects of varying complexity.
- Expertise to effectively communicate technical engineering and design information and solutions to a wide audience of stakeholders such as manufacturing customers, Technology Development, Project Managers, Construction Managers and contractors.
