Assistant Professor in Christian Education (Open Rank)
Description

Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan University invites applications for an open rank faculty position in Christian Education. As a part of Northeastern Seminary’s Christian Parenting and Caregiving Initiative, funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment, this faculty member will oversee the grant program and the development of culturally appropriate resources for churches, families, and caregivers to support the spiritual formation of children. Primary competence should be in the interdisciplinary field of child development and Christian education. Applicants must be fluent in Spanish, and have experience working within Spanish speaking communities and  churches. This position requires close partnership with the Director of Spiritual Formation, our partner organization Missio Alliance, and our partner churches. The faculty member will report to the Dean, and work with faculty in developing a certificate program in Advanced Christian Education. Applicants who approach spiritual formation and Christian education through the lenses of diversity, equity, social justice, and embodiment, both in life and scholarship, are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should be committed to a vocation of teaching and scholarship on behalf of the church and have demonstrated competence, or promise in both classroom and church settings.

The approved salary for this position is $54,000.00 - $65,000.00/Annually. 

Requirements

A DMin or PhD or comparable degree in Christian education or a related field is expected, though outstanding late-stage ABD applications will be considered. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate cultural competence and must value the principles of diversity and equity.
