POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer who will be responsible for designing intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our new suite of insurance & Insurance related products (Enterprise & Consumer). This exceptional individual will coordinate and collaborate with cross functional teams to conduct user research to successfully translate insights into innovative design solutions. ABOUT THE ROLE:

The role will participate in the development of novel software & digital assets, via SDLC & Agile/Scrum with the entire department of Product, Engineering, Architecture, Compliance, Quality & Configuration.



Requirements

High Level Concepts/Technologies with Documentation:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the following concepts & technologies:


  • Develop UI mockups & prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function & look like.
  • Identify & troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness).
  • Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role.
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Wireframe.cc & InVision).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Figma, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.

A mastery of documentation skills is a primary requirement for every role in the Application Development Department:


  • IA user flows, error handling, wireframes, POC’s, dev ready Figma’s to name a few elements of assets & documentation as well as superior note-taking to adequately encompass the tasks asked of UI/UX Designer.

  • Development:
  1. Lead user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) to deeply understand user needs and goals.
  2. Design intuitive and engaging user interfaces that align with brand guidelines and design principles.
  3. Create robust user journeys that improve adoption and usage, focusing on intuitive onboarding, early value delivery, ease of use and reducing friction points.
  4. Design intuitive, visually appealing user experiences through wireframes, prototypes, and mockups, aligning them with the optimized user journeys.
  5. Develop clickable prototypes to gather user feedback and refine both designs and the user journey itself.
  6. Create and maintain a design system emphasizing reusable components, rapid iteration, and scalability.
  7. Design for flexibility: Build interfaces that easily adapt to new features, user segments, and evolving user journeys as the product scales.
  • Agile/Scrum:
  1. You're eager to grow alongside a dynamic product. You stay on top of the latest UI/UX trends and technologies and are excited to contribute your expertise to shape the future of 834 Labs.
  2. Collaborate with product managers, product owners, development teams, and stakeholders to define project goals, prioritize features for a compelling SAAS product.
  3. Work closely with developers to ensure the feasibility and implementation of design solutions.
  • Architecture:
  1. Formulating prospective informational designs & templates for further development.
  2. Designing prototypes for informational architecture flows & experiences.
  3. Developing draft information architectures for final products to be used by the company.
  4. Evaluating the performance of information architectures through analysis & research.
  5. You're a UI/UX designer who deeply understands the power of intuitive design to solve user problems. You're not just focused on aesthetics; you're driven to create experiences that measurably improve product adoption, engagement, and business outcomes.
  6. You have a proven track record and a portfolio demonstrating your ability to design for both startups and more established SaaS environments. You're energized by rapid iteration and the direct impact of your work on a growing product.

  • Maintenance:
  1. Create robust and industry-standard design documentation to facilitate smooth development handoff and maintain design consistency.
  2. Analyze user feedback, metrics, and A/B testing results to continuously refine user experiences and designs for increased adoption and usage.
  3. Stay up to date on design trends, particularly those enhancing user onboarding, engagement, and retention in SaaS products.
  • Tools:
  1. You're a Master of Modern Design tools like Figma, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, being fluent in the principles of component-driven design. Your strong technical foundation complements your commitment to scalability and ensures smooth collaboration with development teams.
  2. Agile experience (Scrum, Kanban) using Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.

Required Qualifications:

  •  Formal/OTJ training or certification on software engineering concepts & applied experience.
  • 2+ years of professional software development exposure to web applications, including team collaboration & code repository (GitHub).
  • 2+ years of full software development life cycle, with exposure to development standards, asset reviews, integration experience, & operations experience.
  • 3+ years of UI/UX design experience..
  • 2+ years of active engagement in an Agile/Scrum team.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
  • Proven work experience in UI/UX design with a portfolio with a strict adherence to error management & branching workflows based on requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Balsamiq & Figma, Adobe XD or similar design and prototyping tools.
  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your designs and UX projects. SaaS products or startup experience is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present and defend design decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven success designing and shipping products in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Deep understanding of component-driven design, design tokens, and design systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with user research methodologies, analysis and reporting.


Experience Level:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience for the role within the last five years.

Full-time

Salary Range: $85k - $90k per year.
