JOB SUMMARY
The Outreach & Programming, LA3 position is a dynamic role focused on expanding the library’s reach and engaging diverse communities through various programs and initiatives under the guidance of the Outreach & Programming Supervisor. This position often involves developing and delivering both in-library and off-site programming for various demographics, fostering community partnerships, and promoting library services. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing programs for all ages, designing outreach events, and tailoring programs to community needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily under the direct supervision of the Outreach and Programming Supervisor:
- Researching and identifying community needs and interests to develop relevant and engaging library programs and events.
- Planning, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing a diverse range of programs for all ages, including educational workshops, cultural events, entertainment programs and more.
- Represent the Sumter Public Library at community events, promoting library and literacy services, programs, and resources.
- Engage with patrons of all ages and stages of life, providing library cards, information, and instruction in a welcoming environment.
- Cultivate relationships with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts.
- Fosters a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere in the library, providing consistently courteous, helpful, and professional assistance to patrons.
- Collect and maintain accurate records of program attendance, community engagement, and service utilization.
- Take photos and videos for marketing and historical purposes, following library guidelines.
- Must be able to transport, set up, and tear down outreach displays.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
- High School Diploma/GED Required; An MLIS/MLS degree is preferred, comparable
- Must be able to work a schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings, and Saturdays.
- Must have strong customer service skills and ability to work well with diverse populations.
- Must possess and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
- Must have the ability to travel between library facilities and to community and governmental organizations located in Sumter County.
- Must have valid Florida Driver’s License with current insurance and clean driving record.
- Must possess advanced proficiency using app-based devices, computers, printers, Microsoft Office Suite, and office equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves.
- Lift/push up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
