Description
As a Control Room Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling all processing systems and equipment from a centralized control room to ensure efficient, safe, and continuous operation of the frac sand plant. This role is critical in maintaining production targets, minimizing downtime, and ensuring product quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Sample Preparation and Analysis:
- Operate and monitor plant processing equipment and systems via distributed control systems (DCS), PLCs, and SCADA platforms.
- Adjust equipment settings and process parameters to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
- Monitor alarms, indicators, and operational trends to identify abnormalities and respond quickly to system upsets.
- Coordinate with field operators and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
Data Recording and Reporting:
- Record and report production data, downtime events, and system performance metrics.
- Conduct regular checks of equipment and instrumentation via camera feeds or field coordination.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures and protocols.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate clearly with shift leads and plant management regarding any operational concerns or production targets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a plant control room environment (mining, processing, oil & gas, or related industry).
- Experience with SCADA/DCS/PLC control systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of processing equipment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle multiple systems simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Prior experience in frac sand mining or similar bulk materials processing environment.
- OSHA/MSHA safety training or certifications.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures for sand products.
