Description

At Northfield Park, the track Settlement Clerk is responsible for the accurate reconciliation, verification, and reporting of pari-mutuel wagering activity for live and simulcast racing operations at Northfield Park Racino. This role ensures the integrity of racing revenue by preparing daily settlement reports, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with Ohio Racing Commission regulations, internal controls, and company policies within a highly regulated, 24/7 racetrack environment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

  • Reconciles daily pari-mutuel wagering activity for live racing and simulcast events, including handle, payouts, breaks, commissions, and refunds.
  • Reviews and verifies wagering system reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of settlement data.
  • Prepares daily track settlement reports in compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements.
  • Investigates, documents, and resolves discrepancies or variances related to wagering activity.
  • Coordinates with Racing Operations, Finance, Compliance, and Tote providers to address settlement issues.
  • Maintains detailed settlement records, logs, and supporting documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Assists with weekly and monthly racing revenue reconciliations and reporting.
  • Supports internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
  • Ensures confidentiality and integrity of sensitive wagering and financial information.
  • Adheres to all company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support racing and casino operations.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education, experience, skills required, equipment used.

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
  • One (1) year or more of applicable experience in racetrack operations, pari-mutuel accounting, casino accounting, or related financial reconciliation roles preferred.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with wagering systems, spreadsheets, and accounting or reporting software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
  • Must be dependable, extremely trustworthy, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and race days as required in a 24/7 operation.
