Van Der Hout LLP is currently accepting applications for law clerk positions on a rolling basis. These are paid positions, and we hire year-round. Positions will remain open until filled. Specific start and end dates are flexible and can be arranged to accommodate academic schedules. This is a great opportunity for law students seeking meaningful, hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, research and writing-focused position designed to provide practical legal experience. Law clerks will work closely with attorneys on active cases, assisting with tasks such as:
- Performing legal research and preparing research memoranda on complex areas of immigration and federal law;
- Preparing legal briefs for filing with the Immigration Court and other immigration agencies; and
- Supporting attorneys with various case-related projects as needed.
Required materials to include with application:
- Cover Letter (Include preferred start and end dates, an estimate of the number of hours per week that you would be available to clerk, and relevant coursework and experience, including whether you have taken an immigration law class.)
- Resume
- At least one legal writing sample
- Three (3) references
Requirements
- Applicants should have completed their second year of law school and have relevant clinic or work experience.
- Completion of an Immigration Law course, prior immigration law experience, or experience working with clients in a legal setting are also highly preferred.
Salary Description
$25 per hour
