Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) is an international nongovernmental organization (NGO) dedicated to transforming the healthcare sector into a leader for environmental health and justice. Working globally, HCWH collaborates with healthcare professionals, hospitals, NGOs, governments, and international entities to promote environmentally healthy practices in healthcare. The organization focuses on reducing the environmental footprint of the healthcare sector and acting as a community anchor for sustainability. With regional offices in the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, a regional team in Latin America, and a Global secretariat, and a network of strategic partners across continents, HCWH fosters global and regional collaborations to address climate and health issues, supported by a global team. Its Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network has over 2,300 members in 87 countries who represent the interests of more than 70,000 hospitals and health centers. The network serves as one of the key vehicles through which the organization and its partners engage directly with the health care sector on the ground around the world and support facilities in their transformation to becoming low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable. 



CONSULTANCY DESCRIPTION: 

Health Care Without Harm seeks a Global Communications Consultant to join its Global Team. The successful candidate must be fluent in both Spanish and English and will work closely with the Communications and Programmatic teams to develop programmatic communications content, with a focus on climate and health, and generate content for social media. The consultant will also collaborate with the Communications team, the Programmatic teams, and our international network to amplify key messages and assist in project management and various initiatives.



DELIVERABLES: 

  • Communications and narrative: Collaborate with the Global Climate team and other programmatic teams as needed, leveraging both advanced storytelling capabilities and technical communications expertise to ensure the timely, accurate, and impactful production of external materials. Provide communications support, including coverage of key events, draft essential program-related materials, and identify and develop impact stories. This requires close coordination with the organization's network of regional offices and strategic partners to showcase the global reach and influence of our climate initiatives across diverse regions.
  • Social media: The candidate will lead the development of messages and social media cards/graphics in English and Spanish for Health Care Without Harm’s Global Team social media accounts, and collaborate with the GGHH communications expert to align social media messaging across GGHH's social media accounts. Provide day-to-day support to the management of Health Care Without Harm’s Global and GGHH social media accounts, monitor performance, prepare timely reports, track KPIs, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Websites and platforms: The candidate will track and monitor website and Moodle analytics, identify KPIs, and flag areas for improvement. The candidate will also assist with uploading materials, creating, and editing pages, resources, and templates.
  • Newsletters and campaigns: Assists and supports the development and launch of newsletters and campaigns.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:  

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Passionate about communications and has a pulse on the conversations in the social media space.
  • Manages tight timelines, short turnaround times, and shifting priorities.
  • At least three years of experience in communications, preferably in the NGO or non-profit sectors.
  • A BA or BS degree in Communications / Marketing or related fields, or combined experience/ education as a substitute.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Able to work virtually and independently, with strong time management and task prioritization skills. 
  • Knowledge and experience with the following programs and platforms are required:
    • Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
    • Canva
    • Drupal and MailChimp
    • Microsoft Office and Google Suites
    • Preferred: Moodle
