JOB SUMMARY
The Museum Associate supports the overall operations of the Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens by providing excellent visitor service and assisting with daily museum functions. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with the public in a unique cultural setting and helping create a welcoming, engaging experience for every guest. In addition to supporting museum exhibits and collections-related activities, this position also assists with museum programs and events, including basic event support and coordination as needed.
Hours Per Week: 20
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
- Provide quality customer service, feedback and recommendations.
- Assisting patrons and public with questions
- Support and promote museum programs and events through visitor engagement and basic outreach assistance.
- Assist in the submission of Museum events to media outlets.
- Willingness to participate in exhibit creation and installation.
- Conduct engaging venue tours, providing prospective clients with comprehensive information.
- Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
- Support events and facility readiness by assisting with set-up and tear-down, resetting spaces after events, and helping maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
· Must be outgoing, customer service oriented and willing to adapt to a fast-paced museum environment.
· Have the ability to follow detailed instructions.
· Be a team player with a positive attitude and possess excellent customer service skills.
· Adapt to changing work schedule which includes evening and weekend shifts.
· Frequent carrying and lifting of museum materials is required.
· Position requires long periods of standing and the ability to push carts and lift boxes up to 40 lbs.
