Position Title: Assistant Deli Manager

Position Summary:

The Assistant Deli Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the deli department. This includes supervising staff, managing inventory, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards. The Assistant Deli Manager helps ensure the department runs efficiently and meets both customer satisfaction and business goals.

General Purpose:

To assist in managing the deli department’s operations, including food preparation, product presentation, inventory management, and staff supervision. The Assistant Deli Manager will work closely with the Deli Manager to ensure the department runs smoothly and provides high-quality products and services to customers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Deli Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the deli department.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate deli staff to provide excellent customer service and meet performance expectations.
  • Assist in scheduling shifts and ensuring adequate staffing levels for efficient department operation.
  • Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering products as needed to ensure the department is stocked with fresh, high-quality items.
  • Monitor and uphold food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards in compliance with health regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of deli meats, cheeses, salads, and other deli items, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Ensure that products are properly displayed and priced in the deli case, following merchandising guidelines.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with the implementation of promotional activities and sales goals for the department.
  • Support the Deli Manager in managing department budgets, controlling costs, and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a deli, food service, or retail management role is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact positively with customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
