Lead Carpenter
Description

The Lead Carpenter manages job-specific carpenter crews to deliver each home’s distinctive “Garman Detail.” This role ensures workmanship meets Garman standards to fulfill homeowner expectations and uphold Garman’s brand promise.


The Lead Carpenter provides hands-on leadership in the field and is accountable for crew execution, jobsite organization, and daily production performance.


This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

Field Leadership & Crew Execution

  • Manage job-specific carpenter crews to ensure workmanship meets Garman standards.
  • Provide hands-on leadership by setting the daily pace, tone, and expectations for crew members.
  • Coordinate daily tasks to meet production schedules as directed by the Production Manager, GarCon.
  • Review job and neighborhood status with the Personal Builder prior to leaving the jobsite.
  • Follow schedule or plan direction provided by the Production Manager.


Craftsmanship & Construction Execution

  • Perform skilled carpentry work including trim carpentry, hardwood flooring, rough framing, concrete work, excavation support, and installation/repair of structures and fixtures.
  • Read and follow blueprints, specifications, and build plans.
  • Measure, mark, shape, cut, assemble, and fasten materials accurately.
  • Utilize materials economically and efficiently as directed.
  • Assist with excavation or backfilling activities when required.
  • Perform snow removal on weekends for open houses when assigned.


Quality & Jobsite Standards

  • Ensure jobsites and communities are clean, organized, and professional prior to leaving each day.
  • Maintain secure jobsites (lock doors/windows, secure tools, protect materials).
  • Report time spent cleaning up after other Trade Partners to the Personal Builder.
  • Treat all internal and external customers with respect.
  • Promote Garman’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values in all interactions.


Tools, Equipment & Documentation

  • Maintain and operate tools and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Keep accurate service logs and report damage or repair needs.
  • Maintain accurate time reporting.
  • Complete assigned paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all company safety and personnel policies and procedures.

  

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Residential carpentry experience with demonstrated ability to lead field crews.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, tools, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency with drills, screw guns, air nailers, circular saws, miter saws, and general hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to lift and carry 100+ pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, lift overhead, work at heights (including ladders), and navigate rough terrain.
  • Valid PA driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated integrity, craftsmanship skill, and leadership capability.
