Westcliff University seeks qualified faculty to teach doctoral-level research courses and mentor students in the development of advanced scholarly research competencies. This role involves mentoring doctoral students in the design, execution, and dissemination of scholarly research, including research methodology, data analysis, academic writing, and dissertation or doctoral research project development. 

Adjunct Faculty - Doctoral Research are part-time instructors who provide high-quality instruction in research-focused courses and support doctoral students throughout the dissertation or doctoral research project. Responsibilities include delivering engaging course content, providing timely and constructive feedback, assessing student performance, mentoring doctoral candidates, and fostering academic success through adherence to research best practices and ethical standards.



 Adjunct Faculty – Doctoral Research  

 

Job Description: Under the direction of the Colleges and the Research Program Manager you will engage in the following:

  • Teach assigned doctoral-level research courses 
  • Participate in the development of and updates to course materials.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support scholarly development.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging online learning environment.
  • Mentor doctoral students in the development of scholarly and practitioner competencies. 
  • Expertise in research methodology, academic writing, and quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience conducting and supervising doctoral-level research and dissertation projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide doctoral students through prospectus development, proposal defense, IRB approval, data collection and analysis, and dissertation completion.
  • Knowledge of ethical research standards and human-subjects research requirements.
  • Review and manage your course syllabus and corresponding materials
  • Facilitate class instruction utilizing your experience and passion for your field
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with Westcliff University's learning objectives and session plan outlines
  • Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and rubrics
  • Submit grades for assignments, discussion board exercises, exams and discussions promptly
  • Adhere to Westcliff University protocols
  • Promote responsible use of technology and academic integrity standards
  • Guide students in the development of research questions, problem statements, and theoretical/conceptual frameworks.
  • Evaluate alignment among research problems, purpose, research questions, methodology, and design.
  • Support students in the selection and application of appropriate quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches.
  • Assist students in identifying and addressing gaps in the literature. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: 

 

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline.
  • Five years experience teaching at the university level.
  • Three years of research experience and a demonstrated record of scholarly research, including publications, presentations, or other research-related contributions.
  • Proven ability to teach, mentor, and support adult learners in an online learning environment.
  • Expertise in research methodology, academic writing, and quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and data analysis.
  • Experience guiding doctoral students through key research milestones, including the prospectus, proposal, Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval process, data collection and analysis, and dissertation completion.
  • Experience serving as a dissertation chair, committee member, or doctoral research mentor.
  • Knowledge of APA 7th edition and doctoral writing standards.
