Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an ambitious and talented professional to join our team as a Substation Project Manager. This position provides an opportunity to join Westwood’s Power Division team. This position will be highly impactful in the growth of our power delivery business, the substation service group, and will be an opportunity for individuals to expand from singular project management into client account management and development.
The Substation Project Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of substation engineering and design projects. This role will oversee project execution, client communication, financial performance, and resource coordination while supporting business development and client account growth initiatives
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of utility substation projects ranging from 12kV distribution substations to 500kV transmission substations.
- Manage the engineering, schedule, quality, and financial performance of multiple concurrent projects.
- Develop project execution plans, staffing forecasts, and budget projections.
- Establish project scope, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including physical design, protection & control, civil/site and structural resources.
- Serve as the primary point of contact as required for assigned utility, developer or EPC clients.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, fee estimates, and statements of qualifications.
- Review backlog, utilization, revenue, work-in-process, accounts receivable, and project profitability metrics.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers, designers, and project team members.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- 4+ years of experience in utility substation engineering, design, or project management.
- Experience managing engineering projects for electric utility clients.
- Understanding of physical design, protection & control, grounding, relay applications, and equipment specifications.
- Familiarity with IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI, and NETA standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
For Preferred Consideration (Not Required):
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Experience leading projects with utilities for AIS and/or GIS substations.
