Description
Summary
Engineer I assist in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure of the hotel in good repair to include Guestrooms, Meeting Space, Breakfast Hall and all other areas of the hotel. Performs simple and routine engineering design tasks with standard techniques. The Engineer I will work on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role & is closely managed by Chief Engineer
Duties:
- Maintain and repair the physical structure of the Hotel and furnishings as directed by the Facilities Manager or GM. This includes electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, pool/spa, irrigation, and other equipment to ensure smooth operation of hotel.
- Inspect and adjust all systems daily and respond systems alarms.
- Respond to maintenance work orders and guest requests to ensure guests receive quality service and furnishings.
- Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.)
- Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary
- Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
- Performs minor fan and air-conditioning repairs
- Performs minor electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment throughout the hotel.
- Performs rough carpentry work, drywall and painting repairs.
- Performs routine plumbing repairs, including installation of toilet, sinks, and other hardware & fixtures, and laundry/kitchen equipment.
- Assists Chief Engineer in administration of an on-going preventive maintenance program for equipment and guest rooms.
- Services the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters.
- Continuously monitors the surroundings at work, to identify any cleanliness, safety, security, or building upkeep issues. Reports discrepancies to the proper department.
- Maintains a professional image, including grooming, verbiage, and body language, at all times.
- Warmly greets both guests and coworkers every time they come in contact.
- Actively listens to guests, responding appropriately to their questions and/or concerns. Seeks guidance and/or assistance from others to ensure satisfaction.
- Fosters teamwork by aiding others, as needed.

Requirements
Position Requirements:
- Considerable knowledge of engineering policies, procedures, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical and energy management systems, license in one of areas A+.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a hotel, commercial building or building maintenance organization.
- Ability to work in a typical maintenance atmosphere requiring heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Behaves with integrity, honesty and is open with guests and fellow associates.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize well to meet deadlines.
- To be an Engineer I typically require 0-2 years of related experience.
