Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE: 

  • The Shipping Lead is responsible for coordinating and executing all inbound and outbound shipping activities that Mikron is responsible for arranging. This can include both domestic and international shipments from key suppliers, daily shipment of customer spare parts order and project shipments. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and compliant movement of materials while serving as the primary point of contact for shipping operations, freight carriers, customs brokers, and transportation providers. The Shipping Lead develops and maintains expertise in international shipping, import/export requirements, tariff administration, and trade compliance activities while working closely with internal departments to support customer commitments and operational goals.
Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop the Shipping Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure the department meets the Company’s requirements.
  • Coordinate domestic and international freight movements, including air, ocean, parcel, and ground shipments. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders regarding shipment execution and issue resolution.
  • Administer tariff-related processes, maintain supporting documentation, coordinate with customs brokers, and support duty recovery or refund initiatives. 
  • Monitor tariff impacts on shipments and provide reporting to Supply Chain leadership.
  • Review freight invoices for accuracy and allocate in accordance with approval authority and company policy.
  • Identify and implement improvements to shipping, transportation, and logistics processes.\
  • Maintain accurate records of shipment details.
  • Serve as primary liaison between Shipping and other departments to ensure effective communication and execution of transportation activities.
  • Proactively track all freight items during inbound/outbound transit
  • Ensure all outgoing shipments are accurate, safely packed, and tracked to their destination. 
  • Coordinate import/export documentation and customs clearance activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Employment Qualifications:

· Must be eligible to work in the United States.

· Must be 18 years of age or older.

· Must have a valid state driver’s license.

· Subject to occasional offsite visits.

Professional & Technical Education:

· Highschool Diploma, or equivalent GED.

Other Job-Related Experience or Requirements:

· Working knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes, customs documentation, freight carriers, tariff administration, and import/export compliance requirements.

· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

· Ability to use a pallet jack.

· Certified to operate a forklift truck.

· Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.

· Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build productive working relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners.

· Working knowledge in MS Word, Excel, or similar computer software systems.

· Self-motivated and results-oriented with a demonstrated willingness to learn, adapt, and drive continuous improvement.

· Demonstrated ability to balance customer service, responsiveness, and operational priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

· 3-5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, warehouse operations, or supply chain-related roles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

· 5+ years of relevant work experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, warehouse operations, or supply chain-related roles.

Salary Description
$27 - $30/hr
