JOB SUMMARY:
The Division of Academic Affairs at Clinton College invites applications to fill the position of Department Chair of Nursing. The Department Chair of Nursing provides visionary leadership, academic oversight, and administrative management for the Nursing Program at Clinton College. The Chair is responsible for ensuring program quality, regulatory compliance, student success, and faculty development. This role supports the College’s mission by advancing excellence in teaching, learning, and service, while preparing graduates to successfully pass the NCLEX and enter the nursing profession as competent, ethical practitioners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Academic Leadership & Program Oversight
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Nursing Program.
- Ensure curriculum alignment with state, regional, and national accreditation standards.
- Lead program assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with the South Carolina Board of Nursing and relevant accrediting bodies.
- Oversee course scheduling, instructional delivery, and program effectiveness.
- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Engagement in clinical site visits and community partnerships.
- Faculty Leadership & Development
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate nursing faculty and adjunct instructors.
- Foster a culture of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Support faculty professional development, mentorship, and retention.
- Ensure faculty compliance with institutional policies and accreditation standards.
- Student Success & Outcomes
- Promote strategies that enhance student retention, progression, and graduation rates.
- Monitor student academic performance and implement intervention strategies as needed.
- Ensure students are prepared for success on the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Support student engagement, advisement, and career readiness.
- Accreditation & Compliance
- Lead preparation and reporting for accreditation reviews and site visits.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including clinical placement standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and program reviews.
- Administrative & Operational Management
- Develop and manage the departmental budget.
- Coordinate clinical partnerships and maintain relationships with healthcare agencies.
- Oversee resource allocation, including labs, simulation equipment, and instructional materials.
- Prepare reports for the Provost, Board of Trustees, and external agencies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution (Doctorate preferred).
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (or eligibility in South Carolina).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of teaching experience in nursing education.
- Demonstrated leadership or administrative experience in higher education or healthcare.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards and nursing program regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned doctorate in Nursing or related field.
- Experience with programmatic accreditation processes (e.g., ACEN, CCNE).
- Proven record of improving student outcomes (e.g., NCLEX pass rates, retention).
