Description

 Westwood Professional Services, Inc.  is seeking a Survey Technician/Survey Crew Chief to join our team in our Lansdale, PA office.  This position will assist our Geospatial team with survey research, boundary surveys, utility locates/SUE, survey computations. This position is a hybrid position that will consist of field & office work. 


Requirements

      

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Limited Office: Survey/utility research, boundary analysis, exhibit preparation, base map drafting, survey computations, and utility records research
  • Importing and analyzing field data 
  • Perform QA/QC checks
  • Coordinate and work with field crews and office staff
  • Ability to effectively lead a survey crew and train/mentor survey crew members
  • Operate GPS, total stations, and data collectors
  • Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders
  • Maintain productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
  • Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies
  • Ensure division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service
  • Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism

Physical Requirements

  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions subject to weather, insects, changing environments, etc.

Required Experience:

  • Strong listening, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of topographic surveys, and field crew prep.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, support project coordination, and interact with other design services.
  • Full use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively lead a survey crew and train/mentor survey crew members
  • Must be able to operate a total station and GPS in both static and RTK modes surveying activities pertaining to control networks, boundaries, topography, construction staking, etc.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid license and clean driving history
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience 

  • SIT or CST Certification
  • Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff
  • Field experience using locating equipment to perform utility locates
  • Ability to operate AutoCAD Civil 3D
