Holy Cross Catholic Parish, a vibrant and growing parish in Mesa, Arizona, is seeking a Director of Sacred Music to lead, strengthen, and grow our Sacred Music Ministry. We are seeking a leader who embraces the rich musical tradition of the Catholic Church and inspires beautiful, prayerful, and reverent worship through sacred music.

Requirements

 

What You'll Do

  • Lead a Sacred Music Ministry rooted in the tradition of the Catholic Church, including Gregorian chant, traditional Catholic hymns, and liturgical music in both English and Latin. 
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate music for weekend and daily Masses, Holy Days, weddings, funerals, and other parish liturgies and celebrations. 
  • Recruit, schedule, and coordinate contract musicians for parish liturgies and special celebrations. 
  • Build and develop choirs, cantors, and volunteer music ministers through recruitment, mentoring, and musical formation. 
  • Collaborate with the Pastor and Liturgy Coordinator in planning the liturgical year. 
  • Oversee the care and stewardship of musical instruments, sound equipment, and the parish music library. 

Qualifications

  • Active, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church 
  • Accomplished organist and vocalist 
  • Experience directing parish sacred music programs 
  • Working knowledge of Gregorian chant and ecclesiastical Latin, with the ability to sing and lead Latin within the Sacred Liturgy 
  • Ability to recruit, mentor, and develop volunteer and contract musicians 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
