Learning Academy Property Maintenance Specialisit
Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect Learning Academy buildings, grounds, playground areas, fencing, walkways, parking areas, and exterior equipment for maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Mow lawns using riding or walk-behind mowers and maintain assigned grounds in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Trim weeds and bushes, edge lawns, prune trees and shrubs, remove debris, and complete landscaping projects.
  • Perform general property maintenance and minor repairs within the employee’s training and authorization.
  • Complete routine preventive maintenance and maintain accurate records of inspections, completed work, supplies, and outstanding repair needs.
  • Submit, track, and coordinate work orders and repair requests with the Director of Early Childhood and Construction Project Manager.
  • Safely operate, inspect, clean, and store lawn equipment, landscaping machinery, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Keep tools, chemicals, fuels, sharp objects, and maintenance materials secured and inaccessible to children at all times.
  • Coordinate maintenance work to minimize disruption to classroom routines and Learning Academy operations whenever possible.
  • Serve as backup to the Facility Sanitation Specialist when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in property maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, facilities support, or a related field preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of general property maintenance, lawn care, landscaping, preventive maintenance, and basic repair practices.
  • Ability to safely operate lawn and landscaping machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize hazards, prioritize work, and complete assignments with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, maintain confidentiality, and use email and basic computer programs such as Word and Excel.

  • Adhere to all Tribal work rules, policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, child-safety practices, and safety standards.

Work Requirements:

Position requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing, lifting, and carrying over 50 pounds. Work is generally performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures and may involve exposure to dust, pollen, noise, fumes, chemicals, uneven surfaces, and moving equipment. The employee must use required personal protective equipment and respond promptly to urgent facility or safety needs.


Salary Description
$22-$25/hr
