Marian Central Catholic is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to serve as the Assistant Head Track & Field Coach. Distance coaching experience is preferred but not required.
The upcoming season will be the current head coach’s final year. The selected candidate will work closely with and learn from the current head coach, with the expectation of transitioning into the Head Coach role for both the Track & Field and Cross Country programs the following school year.
Schedule
· Practices are held Monday through Friday from 3:00–5:00 p.m.
· Attendance at all scheduled meets is required.
· Some meets and program activities may take place on weekends.
Responsibilities
· Assist with planning and leading daily practices.
· Provide instruction, motivation, and supervision to student-athletes.
- Support the development of distance runners and other event groups as needed.
- Help coordinate meet preparation, athlete entries, equipment, and team logistics.
- Promote sportsmanship, academic responsibility, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Learn the administrative and leadership responsibilities necessary to manage both the Track & Field and Cross Country programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous track and field or cross-country coaching experience, particularly with distance events.· Knowledge of training principles, athlete development, and injury prevention.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with high school student-athletes.
- Availability for weekday practices and all scheduled meets.

Coaching experience is preferred, but it is not the most important qualification. We are especially interested in candidates who are dependable, arrive on time, have a willingness to learn, demonstrate strong character and integrity, and possess a genuine passion for track and field.
