At Gastroenterology Associates of the Piedmont (GAP), our Certified Nursing Assistants enjoy a Monday–Friday outpatient schedule, no nights, no weekends, and paid holidays.

As part of our Ambulatory Surgery Center team, you'll work alongside experienced nurses and physicians to provide safe, compassionate care to patients before and after endoscopic procedures. If you enjoy patient care, teamwork, and a fast-paced clinical environment, we'd like to hear from you.

Essential Functions

• Assists with preparing patients for procedures, including obtaining and documenting vital signs and required patient information.
• Provides patient care before and after procedures under the direction of licensed clinical staff.
• Safely transports patients between pre-op, procedure, and recovery areas.
• Prepares and cleans procedure rooms between patients.
• Ensures necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available for procedures.
• Assists with cleaning, disinfection, reprocessing, and care of endoscopes and related equipment according to established protocols.
• Documents equipment reprocessing, infection control, and quality control activities as required.
• Restocks procedure rooms and maintains supplies and equipment.
• Follows infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements.
• Recognizes situations outside the CNA's scope of practice and refers them to the appropriate licensed clinical professional.
• Participates in safety drills, staff meetings, training, and continuing education.
• Supports physicians, nurses, the ASC Nurse Manager, and other members of the clinical team as needed.
• Adapts to changes in patient volume, procedure schedules, and daily workflow, including low-census schedule adjustments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull. Must be able to assist with patient positioning and transportation and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position may involve exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, biohazards, and cleaning/disinfection chemicals.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in North Carolina.
• Current BLS certification.
• One (1) year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Previous ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, PACU, OR, or procedural experience preferred. 
• Experience with endoscope cleaning, disinfection, and reprocessing highly desired.
• SGNA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of AAAHC standards and North Carolina ASC requirements preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and patient-care skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
