Senior Assembly Technician
Description

JOB SUMMARY


The Senior Assembly Technician for Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) is responsible for the assembly and sub-assembly of hardware components in a fast-paced, low volume, manufacturing environment. Performs complex and repetitive assembly operations, training, in accordance with established procedures and specifications.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform basic equipment operation including but not limited to hardware assembly, parts lubrication and preparing hardware kits
  • Read and interpret standard operating procedures, drawings, technical data or blueprints to perform assembly operations 
  • Must be able to operate assembly equipment safely
  • Must be able to examine completed work quality and validate that compliance standards are met; and correct errors as needed
  • Must be able to train assembly technicians to perform required tasks, provide competence assessment feedback, and collaborate with supervisors to sign off on training status 
  • Print, apply labels, and assist with packaging products
  • Complete and maintain all associated paperwork including but not limited to checklists, job travelers, blueprints, and packaging material
  • Perform rework and repair operations
  • Follow detailed instructions and specifications utilizing specialized skills, tools, and equipment for complex units
  • Repair and/or test, sub-assemblies and components
  • Operate test equipment in accordance with process instructions
  • Inspect parts for defects and perform audits to ensure all necessary parts are available to perform builds, tests and repairs
  • Help develop manufacturing processes and identify improvement opportunities with leadership

Requirements

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred


EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience, and an additional 3 to 5years experience in countermeasure assembly and defense industry


ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
  • Technical knowledge and ability to interpret blueprints, drawings and read schematics for complex builds
  • Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills 
  • Team player who works productively with a wide range of people
  • Motivated self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with small components
  • Ability to perform assembly operations and inspect assemblies using a microscope
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to function under stress and interact cordially with co-workers to accomplish common tasks
  • Ability to create and report on key production metrics
  • Ability to help develop manufacturing work instructions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing reporting systems


PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves standing and walking most of the time, but may involve sitting for brief periods of time. Use of computer.

Ability to distinguish colors. Manual dexterity in hands for tool usage and handling small components on regular basis. Ability to climb and balance.
