Position Detail

Operate a tape edge machine to perform the final steps of assembly in the mattress production process. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Retrieve a pre-assembled mattress from the conveyor belt and securely sew mattress tape around the edges of the mattress. 

· Proper operation of machine including starting, stopping and controlling the speed of tape edge machine using knee to depress the drive mechanism 

· Monitor the quality of work from time of receipt to completion of the tape edge process.

· Repair work that is non-conforming by re-sewing incorrect seams.

· Monitor quality of pre-assembled product and finished product.

· Replace expendable materials such as tape, thread, and guide attachments as needed 

· Performing and documenting quality checks as specified

· Makes any necessary sewing machine adjustments and handles basic maintenance of machine such as lubrication.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

· Prior assembly or manufacturing experience in an environment with some disagreeable elements such as noise dust and heat.

· Demonstrated proficiency in reading, math, written skills and manual dexterity 

· Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, required. 

· Knowledge of manufacturing or supply chain industry a plus

· Good eye/hand coordination

· Bi-lingual in Spanish/English beneficial

· Must be physically able to perform efficiently all duties of the position with, or without reasonable accommodation. Duties require lifting, carrying, prolonged standing, walking, pushing, bending and reaching, and may involve the handling of up to 75 pounds.
