Description

EHTC is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Private Client Services team. This role is responsible for managing tax compliance, planning, consulting, and advisory engagements for high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, foundations, and closely held businesses.


The Tax Manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients and their professional teams while overseeing engagement execution, client service delivery, and team development.


This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated tax matters, lead client relationships, mentor developing professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of EHTC's Private Client Services practice.


 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage tax compliance, consulting, and planning engagements for high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, private foundations, closely held businesses, and their owners.
  • Review tax returns, workpapers, and related deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with professional and firm standards.
  • Work directly with clients and their advisors to gather information, identify needs, and develop practical tax planning and consulting strategies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and client expectations are met.
  • Monitor engagement performance, including workflow, realization, staffing utilization, and timely billing.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact throughout the engagement process and maintain strong, responsive client relationships.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and provide practical recommendations aligned with clients' personal, family, estate, philanthropic, and business objectives.
  • Research complex tax matters, analyze technical issues, and develop well-supported conclusions and recommendations.
  • Stay informed on tax law changes and communicate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry developments to clients and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with specialists and professionals across service lines to address complex client needs and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop tax professionals through coaching, training, delegation, and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Review staff work and provide timely, constructive guidance to support technical growth and career development.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention efforts within the Tax Practice.
  • Contribute to practice growth by identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships, participating in business development activities, and maintaining professional networks.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance client service, engagement efficiency, and team effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, consulting, professional services, or private industry accounting.
  • Significant experience serving high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, private foundations, closely held businesses, and their owners.
  • Prior experience supervising, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge related to individual, trust, estate, gift, partnership, and S corporation taxation, as well as tax compliance, research, and planning.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with tax research databases, tax compliance software, AI tools, and document management systems.
  • Familiarity with UltraTax, GoRS, CoCounsel, and other Thomson Reuters products.
