Salary: $90,000 to $100,000 yearly

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES) …
The Senior Accountant Revenue at Newport Mental Health ensures accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial stewardship across multiple funding streams, including federal grants, state contracts, Medicaid reimbursements, and private grants. This position is an in-office hands-on position requiring a deep understanding of financial principles, compliance regulations, and a commitment to the mission of the center.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work with the billing department on monthly Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial billing to ensure accuracy and compliance with CCBHC billing models.
· Monitor and analyze payer mix and reimbursement rates; develop strategies for revenue optimization.
· Analyze accounts receivable and work closely with billing and revenue cycle teams.
· Manage and bill all federal, state, and private grants.
· Ensure allowable cost compliance, time & effort documentation, and procurement standards under Uniform Guidance.
· Monthly analysis of grant spending for over/under spending.
· Prepares finance CCBHC cost reporting.
· Payroll backup.
· Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and ensure accurate month-end and year-end closes.
· Part of the audit team, including preparation of schedules and Single Audit.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and CCBHC certification standards.
· Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and industry’s best practices.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
· Proven experience (4+ years) preferably in a nonprofit organization.
· Familiarity with CCBHC financial requirements, Medicaid billing, and cost reporting a plus.
· Experience with federal grants, Single Audits and multi-fund grant environments.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting (FASB).
· Proficiency with complex accounting systems MIP, Microix, and Microsoft Office.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, grant-funded environment.
