About the Role
The Night Supervisor is responsible for ensuring high-quality nursing care on a 24-hour basis while maintaining compliance with federal, state, local, and professional standards. This role provides leadership and support to nursing staff, assists with staffing coordination, performance monitoring, recruitment, and staff development, and helps oversee daily nursing operations during night shifts. The position also supports departmental goals through involvement in policy implementation, infection control, budgeting, and meaningful use initiatives. Guided by the Nursing Process and current standards of practice, the Night Supervisor promotes compassionate, patient-centered care while fostering teamwork, professionalism, and excellence within the nursing department.

Leadership & Nursing Operations
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining nursing policies and procedures that align with current standards of practice, facility philosophy, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate and interpret nursing policies, procedures, and expectations to staff while monitoring adherence to established standards.
- Assist in evaluating nursing staff performance, including coaching, disciplinary action, and recommendations regarding wage adjustments in accordance with organizational policies.
- Oversee staffing schedules to ensure appropriate coverage that meets patient care needs, regulatory standards, and budget expectations.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and retention of qualified nursing personnel to maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Support daily floor operations by serving as a clinical and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) resource for staff.
Patient Care & Quality Improvement
- Conduct patient care rounds to assess quality of care and communicate with patients, families, and staff regarding care delivery and patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and providers, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, and leadership to coordinate effective patient-centered care.
- Participate in and promote Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and ongoing Quality Assurance (QA) activities within nursing services.
- Assist in preparing and implementing Plans of Correction related to inspection surveys and follow-up quality improvement activities.
Staff Development & Education
- Assist in developing and providing in-service education and training programs to ensure nursing staff maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.
- Participate in continuing education and remain current on developments within nursing practice and healthcare operations.
- Serve as a technical and educational resource for staff, providers, students, and other healthcare personnel.
- Maintain awareness of organizational updates and departmental communication through email, bulletin boards, and other communication channels.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Assist in monitoring compliance with OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and facility policies.
- Promote accident prevention, safe work practices, and adherence to safety procedures to reduce employee injuries and workers’ compensation risks.
- Support compliance with Corporate Compliance standards, HIPAA privacy and security regulations, confidentiality requirements, and the organization’s Code of Conduct.
- Follow all safety and emergency management policies and assist in educating staff regarding emergency preparedness procedures.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in the development and monitoring of departmental budgets for nursing services.
- Assist leadership in maintaining efficient operations while supporting responsible resource utilization and budgetary goals.
Customer Service & Professional Standards
- Promote exceptional customer service by addressing concerns, resolving complaints professionally, and fostering a welcoming and respectful environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with patients, families, coworkers, providers, and the public.

Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.
- Current Kansas state RN license required.
- 2-4 years of nursing experience required; management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare regulations, and commitment to professional growth.
- BLS certification required within 1 month of employment; ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification required within 6 months of employment; TNCC certification required within 1 year of employment.

Position Details
Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt with the expectation to work 36-40 hours per week. Availability to help staff with unusual situations and to obtain full staffing needs.
Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, with rare lifting exceeding 100 pounds. Duties may also include pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and prolonged sitting as part of daily patient care and operational responsibilities.
Equipment: Ability to operate equipment safely.
