Description

 SUMMARY: MIG welder who plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works as part of a production team to weld parts.
  • Ensures high safety measures while working, such as donning protective gear for the face and body.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings & product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal parts/products.
  • Selects gauge and type of sheet metal according to specifications
  • Creates quality welds according to blueprints.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems 
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Change welding wire as needed. 
  • Change gas tanks as needed  
  • Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
  • Operate equipment such as industrial saws.
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
  • Inspect welds for accuracy. 
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure work areas are clean
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
  • Each job must be run with safety, accuracy and timeliness in the welding area.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including
    lifting, climbing, etc. 
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not
    correctable to supervisor immediately.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of welding experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be friendly, courteous, service-oriented, and flexible, and enjoy working with a variety of staff.
  • Must be detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision; work well under pressure; able to manage multiple projects.
  • Must have basic knowledge of power tools and hand tools
  • Must be able to speak and follow verbal and written directions in English
