HR Generalist

A&K Railroad Materials is a leading supplier of new and used railroad track materials. A&K has sales offices and a network of storage and distribution facilities strategically located throughout the United States. Together, these offices and inventory locations maintain an extensive and comprehensive inventory of new, relay, and reconditioned rail and track materials across the nation. Overall Position Summary

The HR Generalist provides support for the Operations divisions within A&K. Supports recruitment, talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll, safety, and other employee-centric processes. Develops and supports HR and related data analytics. Administers new hire processes and new employee orientation and service excellence. Assists with improving employee engagement and supports HR training sessions for employees and managers. Performs payroll functions, supports and assists with benefit programs and processes as well as other administrative functions.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct employee orientation and onboarding.
  • Provide support and assistance for payroll and benefit administration.
  • Coordinate and assist with training documentation for employees and maintain training matrix.
  • Support company safety programs through administering drug testing, reimbursement programs, OSHA, worker’s compensation, and safety-related training.
  • Support employee engagement through coordination of employee events both onsite and offsite.
  • Provide administrative support for all human resource functions when needed. 
  • Maintain employee files in accordance with regulatory and file retention requirements.
  • Other projects or tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Strong Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills including development of presentations and management reports.
  • Proficiency in HRIS functions; preferably Paylocity.
  • Strong customer focus skills.
  • Able to effectively prioritize when faced with multiple projects.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English & Spanish required.
