Description
Job Summary:
Reviews loan documents and appropriate auto, personal, credit card and home equity lines of credit applications, by assessing financial risk, analyzing data, reviewing borrowers creditworthiness, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations, while making crucial loan underwriting decisions.
Essential Job Duties:
- Perform all duties for a level 1, 2, and 3 Consumer Underwriter
- Assist in coaching, mentoring, motivation and training new staff members on products and procedures
- Identifies training or knowledge gaps within the team and brings to the attention of supervisor, while seeking to close those gaps, to ensure consistent, superior service for our members.
- Provide insight and feedback to management on underwriting policies and procedures
- Answer underwriting inquiries and provided detailed and accurate response in a timely manner
- Support and respond to questions from Consumer Underwriter 1, 2 and 3.
- Support staff in absence of manager or supervisor
- Resolve escalated issues of high complexity and associated risks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Familiar and comfortable with information technology, particularly digital means of communication.
- Strong organizational skills in managing multiple initiatives.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Knowledge:
- Expert knowledge of consumer credit and underwriting principles
- Expert with federal and state regulations affecting consumer loans
- Expert level knowledge of overall consumer and mortgage lending processes, including underwriting and loan processing.
- Expert level knowledge of valid documentation related to the processing of consumer and mortgage applications (tax returns, financial statements, verification of income, etc.)
- High level experience underwriting portfolio
Education and Experience:
- Minimum six years’ experience in consumer and HELOC underwriting, lending or related experience
- Minimum high school diploma/GED or more than six year of related experience.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times.
Salary Description
$35.21 to 44.01 (Per Hour) DOE
