Description

JAM Services is a leading distributor of traffic lighting, highway safety and traffic control products and underground equipment serving state DOTs, municipalities, highway contractors, and traffic control companies throughout California.


The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating new business, expanding existing customer relationships, and promoting JAM’s products and services in the San Francisco Bay area. This position focuses on proactive project development, face-to-face customer engagement, and technical sales support. Success in this role requires a combination of industry knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to identify solutions that align with customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Growth & Business Development

  • Drive sales growth and consistently exceed established revenue goals
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across assigned territory
  • Expand market share within targeted product categories

Strategic Account Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and decision-makers
  • Develop long-term partnerships with state, county, and municipal agencies
  • Provide consultative solutions aligned with customer needs and project specifications

Product & Market Expertise

  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of JAM Services product portfolio
  • Learn and interpret state, county, and municipal specifications and codes
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase solutions
  • Collaborate with vendors to align product capabilities with customer requirements

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner with leadership and the broader sales team to execute growth strategies
  • Maintain accurate CRM documentation of sales activities and pipeline progress
  • Participate in trade shows, marketing initiatives, and training programs

Other Duties

  • Conduct daily business in compliance with company policies and departmental guidelines.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

  

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably within construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure-related      industries
  • Experience in traffic safety or roadway products is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred

  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • High level of organization and time management
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Professional presence and strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory and occasionally outside of the territory for events such as trade shows or visiting manufacturer’s facilities. Some overnight travel is required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, and to talk or hear; the role also requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or touch objects and controls. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while driving, attending meetings, or working at a computer, as well as move about client sites, trade shows, and event venues, which may involve standing and walking for extended periods. On occasion, the employee may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, reach above the shoulders, or otherwise position materials when setting up displays or retrieving items.


The employee must occasionally lift, transport, and position items up to 25–50 pounds, such as product samples, marketing materials, or demonstration equipment, with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This role also requires the ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory, which may include driving or other modes of transportation.


Work is performed in a variety of settings, including client offices, event venues, trade show floors, vehicles, and occasional outdoor locations.


Exposure to varying noise levels and environmental conditions may occur depending on client sites and travel requirements.

Salary Description
$70K plus commission
