Job Summary: Provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for Safety, Residential Living, Recreation, Security, Student Personnel, Student Leadership and Transportation functions to ensure a safe, supportive, student-centered environment that promotes student achievement, retention, employability, career readiness, and career success. Ensures all departmental operations comply with U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Center and corporate policies procedures, and performance standards.
Duties:
- Provides direct supervision, leadership, and oversight of Safety, Residential Living, Recreation (and Student Leadership), Security, Student Personnel, and Transportation departments.
- Provides management oversight of the Center Safety and Emergency Management programs to ensure applicable DOL, PRH, OSHA, corporate, and Center safety requirements are implemented; monitors safety inspections, incident investigations, required training, hazard abatement, and corrective actions to ensure identified deficiencies are addressed and effectiveness is verified.
- Collaborates with Center departments, community stakeholders, corporate leadership to develop and implement initiatives that support student retention, positive center culture, safety, and student success.
- Recruits, trains, coaches, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff in accordance with company policies and performance management expectations and makes recommendations regarding employee recognition, promotions, merit increases and corrective actions.
- Conducts routine quality assurance reviews, self-assessments, audits and program evaluations of all departments to identify best practices, trends, deficiencies, and training needs, and ensures corrective actions are completed and evaluates their effectiveness to reduce recurrence and improve program performance, student engagement and operational efficiency.
- Ensures that required reports are appropriately written, reported, documented, investigated, and followed through resolution in accordance with applicable PRH/SOP requirements.
- Provides ongoing mentoring and professional development opportunities to build staff competencies and strengthen program effectiveness.
- Serves as a facilitator or member of various committees/teams to include Safety, SIR (Significant Incident Reports), PMS (Performance Management System), HEALS (Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles), Retention etc.
- Ensures that the Center performs in the top 20% of OMS (Outcome Measurement System) or 100%, whichever is higher, operates at contracted OBS, obtains a 6.8 or higher on OSH assessments (goal may change based on guidelines), performs at 100% on quarterly inspections and obtains an 85% or greater on all DOL and corporate assessments
- Oversees department administrative functions which include but are not limited to maintaining budgetary guidelines, ensuring property control processes and adherence to inventory management and accountability requirements, compliance with records management and student accountability, and maintains a staff vacancy rate below 4%.
- Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures
- Maintains a professional work environment through good housekeeping, proper safety practices, and adherence to organizational standards.
- Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards and employability skills through daily interactions and program activities.
- Participation in PRH mandated staff training is mandatory.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience: 2 years working with youth and young adults. 4 years of supervisory experience. Previous Job Corps experience preferred.
Education: Postsecondary degree required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Driver’s License with clean Motor Vehicle Record
(MVR).
