Description

General Job Summary: Responsible for operating radiological and fluoroscopic equipment.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
  • Read patients’ charts and relay physician orders to other staff members.
  • Maintain all radiographic files completely and accurately.
  • Complies with safety standards, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
  • Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary.
  • Operates and maintain all imaging department equipment.
  • Performs all imaging exams according to provider protocols and other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
Requirements

Education/Experience:

Certified as a medical radiologic technologist as required by the state.

Associates degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited Radiology Technology program.

CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.


Other Requirements: Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends. Travel as needed.


Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of radiology procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform radiology testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics. Knowledge of electronic health records and practice management systems.

Skills:

  • Skill in positioning patients properly.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  • Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.

Abilities:

  • Ability to lift and position patients for the type of x-ray procedure required.
  • Ability to notice detail in radiological images with differences in shapes and sizes.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to evaluate images and make technical changes as needed.
