Description

General Job Summary: 

  • Responsible for operating radiological and fluoroscopic equipment. 
  • Travel as needed between our Kentucky and Indiana locations.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. 
  • Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards. 
  • Read patients’ charts and relay physician orders to other staff members. 
  • Maintain all radiographic files completely and accurately. 
  • Complies with safety standards, OSHA, and HIPAA. 
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs. 
  • Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary. 
  • Operates and maintain all imaging department equipment. 
  • Performs all imaging exams according to provider protocols. 
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
Requirements

Education/Experience: 

  • Certified as a medical radiologic technologist as required by the state. 
  • Associates degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited Radiology Technology program. 
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred. 

Other Requirements: 

  • Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends.
  • Travel as needed between Kentucky and Indiana locations. 

Performance Requirements: 


Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of radiology procedures and protocols. 
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform radiology testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology. 
  • Knowledge of body mechanics. 
  • Knowledge of electronic health records and practice management systems. 

Skills: 

  • Skill in positioning patients properly. 
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor. 
  • Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures. 

Abilities: 

  • Ability to lift and position patients for the type of x-ray procedure required. 
  • Ability to notice detail in radiological images with differences in shapes and sizes. 
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices. 
  • Ability to evaluate images and make technical changes as needed. 

Equipment Operated: Radiological equipment.
Work Environment: Radiological unit.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, and walking the majority of the time. There are occasions when kneeling, stooping, bending or reaching may be necessary. Ability lift 50 pounds.
