Job Title: Driver
Reports to: Roadrunner
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist elderly and disabled riders, to include properly securing them, assisting with bags, wheelchairs and/or walkers, and ensuring they follow WOTA regulations
- Ability to work in a time-structured environment, under minimal direct supervision
- Collect and document payment of fares, or complete appropriate billing information as needed
- Drivers are the face of the organization and represent our values. Patience and flexibility are required
- Follow the WOTA Driver Manual and become familiar with the mission, territory, hours of operation, drivers, and dispatchers
- Follow policy and procedure for operation of vehicles and in the case of emergency, function within said policies and procedures
- Communicate regularly with the Head Driver and Dispatch
- Operating push-to-talk (PTT) phones and tablets
- Ability to follow a day-to-day routine, completing appropriate paperwork and computer work
- May be required to run errands in WOTA vehicles. These errands may include but are not limited to picking up/dropping off paperwork/supplies, bringing a replacement vehicle to a driver, and/or transporting riders to assist the schedule.
- Must attend all trainings required by the Director
- Must complete a 90-day probationary/training period before being considered a regular employee
Minimum Requirements:
- Maintain a chauffer’s license in good standing
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40#
- Ability to push/pull a wheelchair with weight capacity up to 500#
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel as necessary to perform routine duties
- Assist riders on and off the vehicle and assist with package transport as needed
Hours: Full employees will work from 37-40 hours weekly, generally 4 ten hour days; part-time employees may work up to 30 hours per week, with hours ranging from 6-10 hours per day with flexibility. WOTA hours are 6 am-9 pm M-F, 8 am - 4 pm Sat, and 7:30 am - 3:30 pm Sun, so start times can be as early as 5:00am and run beyond 9:00pm, depending on the needs of riders. No overtime unless pre-approved.
