Middle Tennessee Traffic Management is hiring dependable, safety-focused individuals to join our traffic-control team. No previous flagging experience is required—we provide paid training and the certification needed to get started.

This is an active outdoor position for people who take pride in protecting work crews, motorists, and the public.

What You’ll Do

· Direct motorists safely through construction and utility work zones

· Set up and remove signs, cones, barricades, and other traffic-control equipment

· Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work zone

· Communicate with crew leaders and team members using a two-way radio

· Assist with work-zone setup and breakdown

· Inspect the work area and collect equipment after assignments

· Complete required job documentation accurately

· Follow all safety rules, traffic-control plans, and company procedures

Previous traffic-control or flagging experience is helpful but not required.

Training

All new crew members must successfully complete MTTM’s paid in-house training and the required ATSSA Flagger Safety Course before working traffic-control assignments.

Schedule

Full-time and part-time positions are available. 

Work schedules and locations vary based on customer needs and project assignments. 

Some assignments may include early mornings, nights, weekends, or extended shifts.

A Crew Member performs traffic control and flagging activities as needed; follows safety rules and regulations in all work zone and flagging sites, including placing signs, barricades, traffic cones, and other warning devices; duties may vary according to job assignment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs motorists by flagging them away from worker activities, moving equipment, and oncoming traffic.
  • Set-up signs, cones, etc. around work areas to divert traffic.
  • Maintains worksite equipment use. 
  • Makes sure traveling public is always safe.
  • Coordinates with crew leads on daily work plans/locations.
  • Works with crew leads or officers to ensure job tickets are accurately completed.
  • Coordinates with officers on maintaining work zone.
  • Relays information to officers/crew leads regarding team issues.
  • Completes final walkthrough to ensure worksite equipment is collected.
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Works with officers for additional equipment or staff as needed.
  • Assists with setup and breakdown of worksite.
  • Maintains visibility outside of vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Requires standing for prolonged periods of time, up to 8 – 12 hours a day

  • Requires repetitive movement

Requirements

  EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Work experience as a flagger preferred.
  • Must have completed and passed a in house training and ATSSA Flagger Safety Course before working on any traffic control details.
  • Excellent attendance, dependable transportation, and good work ethic required.
