Snowmaking Supervisor
Description

The Snowmaking Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Snowmaking Manager with all functions of snowmaking on over 75 acres of trails with or without natural snowfall. The Snowmaking Supervisor will also oversee the Night Snowmaking Crew to ensure that there is adequate coverage for quality grooming, skiing, and snowboarding conditions. This position is a Year-Round Full-Time position that will work Evenings and Nights. 


Essential Functions of the Job

  • Set up fan snowmaking guns.
  • Check and adjust air and water hydrants to maintain snow quality regularly.
  • Operate snowmobiles that may be towing snowmaking equipment or pulling hoses.
  • Hook up and clean out snowmaking hoses and equipment regularly.
  • Ensure safety requirements are met and adhered to at all times.   
  • Directs the activities of the night snowmakers to produce snow through a variety of conditions.
  • Supervises the night snowmaking team including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling.
  • Prepare, carry out efficiently and detail daily work lists and tasks.
  • Works cooperatively with the grooming team to make snow and build trails.
  • Prepare and carry out training (pre-season and ongoing) as needed for your team.
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces and out-buildings throughout the year.


Non-Essential Functions of the Job

  • Checks the conditions and coverage of snow on snowmaking trails.
  • Promotes safety by following safe practices and reporting any unsafe conditions or situations while on premises.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude toward guests and staff.
  • Relocate snowmaking equipment to various locations on mountain, as required.
  • Maintain clean and operating snow making equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Requirements
  • Passionate about Bogus Basin’s Mission.
  • Ability to work long hours at night in harsh outdoor mountain environment with variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Previous snowmaking and snowmobile operation preferred.
  • Primarily outdoor night work in a winter mountain environment with variable weather conditions.
  • Standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting, pulling, driving.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, ice chippers, hand picks, and steel spud bar (15lbs)
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and/or drag 100 pounds or more.
  • This position requires employees to provide sufficient clothing for warmth in winter conditions, gloves in good repair, and pac boots in good repair.
  • Ability to pass a background check. 

Working Conditions

  • Both indoors and outdoors.
  • Position will be exposed to inclement weather.
  • May be exposed to smoke, dust, fumes and odors.
  • Vibration and noise are present in the work environment.

Schedule

Schedule will mainly be evenings and nights but could vary based on the needs of the department and operating hours.


Personal Appearance

When in the public eye, your personal appearance is an important part of the product we offer our guests. You should come to work neatly groomed and in uniform.

In addition to the uniform you are issued, you will be required to provide:

  • Waterproof Pac boots in good repair.
  • Thermal wear, sufficient clothing for warmth.
  • Waterproof jacket, pants, gloves.
  • Ski/Snowboard equipment.
