Robotics and Automation Technician
Description

Production Castings, Inc. is seeking a Robotics and Automation Technician to support and maintain advanced automated manufacturing equipment within our facility. This role focuses on keeping robotic systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and automated processes operating safely and efficiently. The technician will work hands-on with robotics, sensors, servo systems, and industrial controls to troubleshoot issues, perform preventative maintenance, and support automation improvements that keep production running at peak performance. 


 

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventative maintenance on robotic systems, sensors, end-of-arm tooling, and servo motors.
     
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues within automated equipment.
     

Installation & Programming

  • Assist with installation, setup, wiring, and calibration of robotic systems and PLC controls.
     
  • Support programming and configuration of robotics and automation equipment.
     

Troubleshooting

  • Identify root causes of automation failures and implement corrective actions.
     
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues affecting automated processes.
     

Machine IoT & Connectivity

  • Assist with implementing machine data collection systems.
     
  • Maintain network connections including Ethernet or wireless communication for automation systems.
     
  • Support sensors and monitoring devices used in automation environments.
     

Documentation

  • Record maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance data.
     
  • Maintain technical documentation for robotics and automation equipment.
     

Collaboration

  • Work closely with maintenance personnel, engineers, and production teams to integrate and improve automated systems.
Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of industrial robotics, PLC programming, and automated manufacturing systems.
     
  • Experience with electrical systems, fabrication, hydraulics, and pneumatics preferred.
     
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
     

Education

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
     

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, robotics, or automation preferred.
     

Problem-Solving

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail.
     

Communication

  • Ability to work effectively with maintenance teams, engineers, and production personnel.
