The greater Pittsburgh region is positioned within one of Pennsylvania’s most active transportation and infrastructure corridors, where roadway improvements, bridge programs, municipal capital projects, and mobility initiatives continue to drive demand for experienced transportation engineering leadership.


This role is ideal for an experienced transportation professional who enjoys leading teams, building client relationships, mentoring future leaders, driving business growth, and taking ownership of impactful infrastructure projects from concept through delivery.


At Fisher Associates, we are a multidisciplinary design services firm with nine locations nationwide. Our services span civil/site engineering, transportation engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, planning, environmental services, land surveying, GIS, construction inspection, precast, and construction engineering, each offering opportunities to shape communities and improve lives.


  What You'll Do

  • Lead mid-to-large-scale transportation projects from project initiation through planning, safety analysis, design, and delivery.
  • Manage project budgets, scope, schedules, staffing plans, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop project strategies and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, clients, agency representatives, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee project billing, client communications, QA/QC reviews, project documentation, and project closeout activities.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, direction, and motivation to project team members.
  • Prepare competitive project proposals and serve as the primary client contact throughout project delivery.
  • Support business development initiatives by strengthening client relationships, promoting Fisher's capabilities, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Navigate public involvement processes, municipal approvals, and agency coordination requirements.
  • Represent Fisher Associates through professional organizations, industry groups, business boards, and community involvement activities.  


Requirements

  

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in civil transportation engineering.
  • Experience managing DOT-funded highway, bridge, or traffic engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated success developing and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Proficiency  with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong project management experience including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and client management.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work through critical thinking, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team development skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain.
  • Experience  with PennDOT design standards.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation.
  • Experience participating in professional organizations, industry associations, or business development activities.

Compensation + Benefits

Salary range: $120,000-$155,000

  • Competitive compensation; actual pay varies based on experience, qualifications, education, and other factors and excludes the value of benefits.

Location Flexibility

This role is aligned to the Canonsburg, PA market due to its strategic importance to Fisher’s transportation and infrastructure practice throughout Western Pennsylvania. Fisher is seeking candidates located within commuting distance of Canonsburg who can support regional transportation clients, agency partners, project delivery efforts, and business development initiatives across the market.

Salary Description
