We are currently seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our team.

The Cloud DevOps Engineer will be the single point of accountability for how software reaches our customers across a multi-tenant, HIPAA-regulated platform. MDaudit is growing fast and our platform demands are scaling with it. In this role, you'll build the CI/CD automation and release infrastructure that lets engineering teams move faster and ship with confidence. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and works closely with senior engineers and the CTO.

Day-to-day, this role owns the full release lifecycle — coordinating deployments across UAT, pre-production, and production environments, managing database change propagation across our multi-customer architecture, and building the pipelines in Azure DevOps that move code from commit to production on AWS. You'll monitor platform observability, drive the shift from manual processes to automated, gated pipelines, and work alongside development teams on release readiness. The person in this seat will have the opportunity to define how MDaudit deploys software from the ground up, with direct visibility into engineering leadership and a direct line to the company's broader AI and product roadmap.

Travel may be required up to 3 times per year for company meetings.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future need for employer sponsorship.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but not limited to the following:

Deployment & Release Engineering (Primary)

  • Own deployments end-to-end across UAT, pre-production, and production environments, coordinating release readiness with development teams and securing final sign-off from engineering leadership.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to streamline how teams ship to AWS.
  • Apply deployment practices (e.g., rolling releases) that minimize customer impact.
  • Manage database deployments as part of every release — propagating schema and data changes consistently across all customer databases.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand their release needs and reduce friction in the path to production.
  • Monitor API observability dashboards (CloudWatch, SigNoz) and triage issues to the appropriate development team as needed.
  • Drive the evolution from manual deployment processes to automated, gated pipelines — including rollback mechanisms and pre/post-deployment validation to protect against release failures.

Platform & Reliability Engineering (Secondary)

  • Make targeted Infrastructure as Code changes (Terraform) when needed to support deployment and release workflows.
  • Contribute to SLI/SLO definition and participate in post-incident reviews and root-cause analysis.
  • Partner with the Security and Infrastructure team on provisioning needs and contribute to infrastructure changes when required to support application deployments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engineering: partner day-to-day with development teams on release planning, deployment readiness, and post-release validation.
  • Security: coordinate on change management, access controls, secrets handling, and vulnerability remediation.
  • IT / Infrastructure: work with the internal Infra team on AWS provisioning needs, networking, and platform-level dependencies.
  • Offshore vendor partners: coordinate hand-offs, deployment windows, and shared triage workflows across time zones.
  • Data & Analytics: coordinate deployment scheduling to avoid conflicts with existing data pipelines, ETL jobs, and scheduled processes.

Documentation

  • Author runbooks, deployment checklists, and operational documentation so release knowledge is shared and repeatable.

Education and Experience

  •  3–5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of the AWS ecosystem (compute, networking, IAM, storage, monitoring).
  • Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; Azure DevOps experience is a strong plus.
  • Scripting proficiency in at least one of: PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Comfort operating in a .NET Core application environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including running schema/data migrations and propagating database changes across multiple customer databases.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience modernizing manual or legacy deployment processes into automated CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments (dev, UAT, pre-production, production).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug across applications, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and coordinate with engineering, product, security, and vendor partners.
  • Hands-on ownership mindset — comfortable being the single point of accountability for releases and driving issues to resolution. This role is for engineers who thrive in the trenches, not at the whiteboard.
  • Comfortable with occasional off-hours deployment windows; we schedule releases in advance and work to minimize disruption to personal time.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a regulated environment (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2).
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps).
  • Experience with observability tooling such as SigNoz, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Exposure to containerized workloads (ECS, EKS, Docker).
  • Working knowledge of Linux administration and command-line tooling.
  • Familiarity with AWS Bedrock or AI/LLM integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with database deployment and migration tooling such as Liquibase, Redgate, Flyway, or DbUp.
