TDS provides mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control construction, testing, and start-up and commissioning services to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas/ Petrochemical, Heavy Process, and other Industrial end markets.
We are a dynamic and rapidly growing company in search of skilled industrial Fiber Optic Technicians/ Splicers to join our team specifically supporting a large Oil & Gas Processing & Terminal Facility Project in the Port Arthur, Texas area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for prepping, installing, splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables into industrial Remote I/O cabinets, vendor PLC's/ skids, and other related Comms/ DCS/ SIS equipment/ infrastructure within the plant.
- Cable Preparation: Strip, clean, and cleave single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic strands using precision hand tools.
- Splicing & Connecting: Perform fusion or mechanical splicing and attach connectors (LC, SC, ST, FC) via epoxy or mechanical setups.
- Network Testing: Use specialized diagnostic equipment like Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) and power meters to verify bandwidth performance and locate signal faults.
- System Organization: Route cables neatly into patch panels, splice trays, and industrial enclosures while managing safety clearances and strain reliefs.
- Safely use hand and power tools, metering & testing equipment, and precision instruments.
- Collaborate with internal team members & customers/ end-users to complete projects within defined timelines.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
General Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and providing technical support.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment communication issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in installing, splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables into industrial Remote I/O cabinets, vendor PLC's/ skids, and other related Comms/ DCS/ SIS equipment/ infrastructure.
- Knowledge of industry-specific electrical code, regulations, and related safety standards/ protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E).

Per Diem: Yes, Provided ($140/day x 7 days per week)
Schedule: Full-time Mon–Thurs (4-10's) + 8hr/ Fri (base). Additional O/T up to 6-10's+.
Shift: Days
Pay-rate: Based Upon level of Expertise.
Start Date: Immediately- Tuesday, August 25th, 2026
