Position Summary

The Marketing and Digital Media Content Specialist plays a critical role in achieving AVANCE-Houston's communication objectives by producing high-quality videos, photos, and social media and website content. As a vital member of the Communications Department, this position will be responsible for managing AVANCE's social media pages, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other channels. Additionally, they will coordinate logistics for special events and programs while producing content for all AVANCE programs. This position will highlight the agency's successes across all social media channels, email, and webpage.


Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This position requires working primarily in an indoor or office environment but is not limited. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is a key requirement for this role. It's essential for interacting with colleagues and clients. The role involves operating a variety of office equipment, including computers. This requires good finger and hand dexterity. Be prepared for long periods of sitting or standing to work with a computer, camera, or other equipment. Cameras, tripods, banners, and office supplies may need to be lifted and transported. Additionally, bending, kneeling, and reaching may be necessary. Driving to visit AVANCE centers/programs and other sites is an expected part of the role.


Essential Functions


Job Function

  1. Develop, implement, and manage AVANCE-Houston email marketing.
  2. Create compelling social media strategies for AVANCE-Houston's online presence on networking sites.
  3. Film and/or photograph events, programs, students, and activities for use across various print and digital platforms.
  4. Edit, retouch, crop, and/or color-correct images/videos.
  5. Create and publish marketing material aligned with marketing plans.
  6. Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills and attention to detail.
  7. Understand sponsorship marketing communications principles and standards well.
  8. Assist with graphic design projects for all departments.
  9. Strong planning, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills are necessary, as well as the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  10. A highly motivated, flexible, and outgoing personality. Must be comfortable speaking in front of groups of people.
  11. Manage day-to-day social media activities and create a wide variety of rich content, community outreach efforts, promotions, etc.
  12. Develop, implement, analyze, review, and report on the effectiveness of social media and email campaigns to maximize results.
  13. Proficiency in website content management systems (WordPress) and basic HTML/CSS skills.
  14. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the department's needs.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Experience

  1. Basic photography and video production and editing skills.
  2. Familiarity with Adobe Suite of products – Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and Illustrator.
  3. Knowledge in Adobe Suite is plus.
  4. Thorough understanding of social media strategy and trends.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
  6. Experience working with consultants.
  7. Strong organizational skills.
  8. Create and follow timelines for the planning and execution of each event.
  9. Positive Attitude.
  10. Ability to work well with others.
  11. Very motivated and self-driven.
  12. Capacity to take the initiative, think creatively, and prioritize responsibilities.


Requirements

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.


Experience

  • Required: Minimum three to five-year experience in communications, public relations, or related fields.
  • Required: Minimum three to five-year experience working in a non-profit social service or educational organization preferred.
  • Preferred: Bilingual: Spanish is a plus


License & Certification

  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Valid Vehicle Insurance
