Driver Supervisor

Employment: Full-Time
Salary Range: $75,000–$100,000 annually 


Position Summary


The Driver Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of ready-mix drivers at Plant 2, with a strong focus on safety, driver performance, training, equipment care, and customer service. This position works closely with Dispatch, Quality Control, Fleet, Safety, Human Resources, and management to support efficient daily operations, address driver and equipment concerns, and maintain GFT’s standards for safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities


Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture among drivers.
  • Ensure drivers follow company safety policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Monitor drivers for readiness and fitness to safely perform their duties.
  • Ensure required PPE is properly worn and maintained.
  • Review pre-trip and post-trip inspections and follow up on identified concerns.
  • Identify unsafe driving practices, jobsite hazards, and equipment concerns.
  • Reinforce safe loading, washout, truck operation, and jobsite procedures.
  • Coordinate with Fleet, Maintenance, and Safety regarding equipment deficiencies and out-of-service vehicles.

Driver Leadership & Development

  • Provide daily supervision, direction, and support to ready-mix drivers.
  • Monitor driver attendance, performance, productivity, safety, and equipment care.
  • Conduct driver coaching, training, ride-alongs, and ongoing development.
  • Support onboarding and training of new drivers.
  • Address performance, conduct, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.
  • Reinforce expectations related to safety, quality, professionalism, and customer service.


Operations & Scheduling

  • Coordinate with Dispatch, Quality Control, Fleet, Safety, and management to support daily operations.
  • Assist with driver scheduling, staffing, PTO requests, and timecard approvals.
  • Help ensure staffing and equipment are aligned with operational needs.
  • Respond to changing daily priorities and operational concerns as they arise.


Equipment & Fleet Oversight

  • Monitor truck condition, cleanliness, and overall equipment care.
  • Follow up on mechanical concerns and driver-reported deficiencies.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and downtime with Fleet and Maintenance.
  • Address recurring equipment damage, misuse, or cleanliness concerns.


Customer & Jobsite Support

  • Visit jobsites as needed to support safe and efficient deliveries.
  • Evaluate jobsite access, truck flow, washout areas, and potential hazards.
  • Assist with customer concerns related to drivers, deliveries, or jobsite conditions.
  • Promote professional and courteous interactions with customers and onsite crews.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with operational, administrative, and driver-related responsibilities based on business needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of ready-mix driving experience required; 10+ years preferred.
  • Previous lead driver, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ready-mix operations, safety practices, and truck procedures.
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach drivers, address performance concerns, and manage changing priorities.
  • Valid CDL and acceptable driving record if required to operate company vehicles.
